In groups, discuss why some of these laws may have arisen and why they may be deemed appropriate in a specific place at a certain time in history. Working in groups, students can then research examples of other types laws from around the world. Provide them with specific headings such as marriage, abortion, age of criminal responsibility and freedom of speech.
