Social Inequality

The Fawcett Society

The Fawcett Society is a UK charity that promotes gender equality and women’s rights at work.

They commission a lot of research in this area which can be found on their website:

Discover More The Fawcett Society

Students can be split into five groups and each assigned one issue cover by the Fawcett Society:

  • In power
  • In public
  • In the home
  • In work
  • Under the law

Working together, groups must find out what the issue is and what strategies have been or could be used to address the issue. In examining how to address or deal with the issue, encourage students to look at a wider range of sources (the discussion about what other sources can be used is in itself very valuable).
