Views on World Trade

Material on pressure groups is available in the politics area of this website –  these can be used as a starter activity here. After explaining to students what pressure groups are, ascertain if there is an awareness of any pressure groups or charities that are involved in some way with trade? It might be, at a basic level, that they have some awareness of Fair Trade products, for example. Do they know what this means?

Students could then choose one pressure group or organisation that comments on world trade. Using the material available on the organisation’s website, students should be tasked with writing a press release to the national newspapers about world trade.
